Hi my name is Gerard Kearney. Born in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia in 1965. Married with two children. I have been painting and drawing most of my life,self taught at an early age. Using different medias through the years from pencil,charcol ,acrylic and pastels,but my favourite has always been oils,which I have used to create these paintings.I use oil paints for the unmatched vibrancy and the endless techniques which you can obtain with them.Using stretched canvas for the originals.

Why mainly surf paintings? Simple, because I love the surf culture,especially from the 60`s and the 70`s which I mainly base my art on.This is the era I grew up in,a simple time,a fun and cool time full of innocence, wonder and colour.That is why I chose this style ,so everytime I paint I can go back to those days I yearn to return to.

So I combined two of my loves and this is what I ended up with. My art has now started gaining popularity,not only from around Australia but from overseas as well with buyers from New Zealand, United States, England, Canada, Germany and even Ireland. So I musn't be alone in loving that time.
